Coded Pipe Welding

OVERVIEW

This programme is designed to provide the learner with the skills to work independently and under supervision to weld carbon steel and stainless steel pipe welding in a variety of positions. This programme has been designed to provide industry with personnel who are certified in coded pipe welding.

Previous appropriate welding experience essential.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

On completion of this programme learners will complete the following modules:

  • Produce MMA welds to ASME IX and/or EN 287/8 standards in carbon steel pipe at positions 2G, 5G and 6G.
  • Produce T.I.G. and MMA welds to ASME IX and/or EN287/8 standards in carbon steel pipe at positions 2G, 5G and 6G.
  • Produce T.I.G. welds to ASME IX and/or EN 287/8 standards in stainless steel pipe at positions 2G, 5G and 6G.
  • Plan and achieve realistic work goals.
  • Produce M.I.G. welds to ASME IX and/or EN 287/88 standards in carbon steel pipe at positions 2G, 5G and 6G.
  • Produce welds to ASME IX and/or EN 287/8 standards in stainless steel pipe at positions 2G, 5G and 6G.
  • Weld to BS4872 standard in positions 2F, 3F and 4F.
  • Weld to BS4872 standard in positions 1G, 2G and 3G.
  • Demonstrate a broad range of occupational competencies in a real work environment.
